The Seven Dials Playhouse, a prominent performing arts venue in London's West End, is set to kick off its new season with an exciting trio of productions. This heralds the inaugural season of Steven Kavuma, the Playhouse's newly appointed Head of Programming.
Kavuma's debut season, running from June through November 2023, will be marked by an impressive selection of plays, including two productions led by female protagonists and a gripping LGBTQIA+ narrative.
The season will commence with the dark comedy, "Post Traumatic Slay Disorder (PTSD). This engrossing theatrical piece is set to run from Thursday, June 12th until Saturday, July 1st.
Next in line is "Sankofa," a semi-autobiographical performance penned by Nicole Acquah, who also takes centre stage in the play. "Sankofa" delves into profound themes of legacy, heritage, and the sense of belonging within the African diaspora. The show will run from Monday, September 4th through Saturday, September 30th.
Concluding the season in grand style is "Jock Night," a play written and directed by Adam Zane. Scheduled to run from Monday, October 9th to Saturday, November 4th, "Jock Night" serves as a fitting end to an eventful and diverse season of theatre at the Seven Dials Playhouse.
This year's lineup not only showcases a diverse range of themes and narratives, but it also exemplifies the Playhouse's commitment to providing a platform for different voices and stories. The Seven Dials Playhouse continues to affirm its position as an influential contributor to the West End's vibrant theatre scene.
