Theatre Royal Presents a Dose of Family Fun this Christmas with Dr Ranj in Dick Whittington
The Theatre Royal in Nottingham is excited to reveal additional star-studded casting for this year's pantomime, Dick Whittington. The previously announced multi-talented Shane Richie, known for his work in television, music, theatre, and pantomime, will share the stage with renowned TV personality, physician, and presenter Ranjit Singh, who has been cast as the Spirit of the Bells.
Dr Ranj has earned the affection of a generation of children through his CBeebies' series Get Well Soon and Get Well Soon Hospital. He has also captivated audiences young and old with his impressive dance moves on the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing, where he made it to the seventh week.
In addition to his career as an NHS doctor, Dr Ranj is a regular on BBC's Morning Live and has showcased his writing and journalistic talents as a columnist and author. His diverse skills were highlighted in the 2020 Christmas Special of The Great British Sewing Bee. Dr Ranj has hosted ITV1's Dr Ranj: On Call, Save Money: Good Health, Save Money: Lose Weight, and his new series, Extreme Food Phobics for the W Channel. He recently published his latest book, How to Be a Boy: and Do It Your Own Way, following the success of his debut, How to Grow Up and Feel Amazing!
Dr Ranj joins Shane Richie, a familiar face on prime-time television, best known for his portrayal of the endearing Alfie Moon in BBC One's EastEnders. Richie has also been a beloved staple in the pantomime circuit for countless theatergoers across the nation.
