What is Dress Circle, and what kind of products do you sell?

Dress Circle is the longest running Showbiz shop in the World. We have been selling recordings, videos, books, posters and related merchandise from our shop in the West End, and by Mail Order, since 1975. In 1995 we expanded to set up this Internet store.

We have also been issuing CDs on on the Dress Circle Record Label since 1993.

We specialise in Musical Theatre and Cabaret - but
we also have an enormous selection of Male and Female Vocalists, Nostalgia, Big Band, Karaoke and other show-business recordings.

As well as CDs we sell gifts, DVDs, videos, posters, vocal scores, books, t shirts, mugs, jewellry and cards.

What is the Dress Circle Record Label?

The Dress Circle label was launched in the early 1990s to showcase singers and new musicals. We work closely with artists and composers - sometimes in direct response to suggestions from our customers.

Although we can`t promise to record the CD of your dreams, we are always interested to hear any suggestions you might have for the label.

How can I find the CD, Book, Poster, etc that I want?

As Dress Circle stocks over 10,000 different items at any one time, we have designed a number of ways for you to look through our catalogue - so whether you are just browsing, or looking for a very special recording, we hope the links below will help you.

A good starting point is the Index - where you will find the links to all the different types of products we stock - from Books to Video.

If you want to know what is New in since your last visit - try the New Releases Page.

If you are looking for a particular type of CD - say a film soundtrack, or a male cabaret singer, try the CD Page, which gives you options to browse by the first letter of the title, or to use the menu to pick the type of CD.

If you know the specific title you want to track down, you should be able to track it down with our Search Page.

And if you would like to know what the Dress Circle Team is recommending this month - drop by to take a look at Our Choice!



Are all the items in your catalogue immediately available?

The majority of products we sell are available at 24 hours notice; some of the rarer recordings and books may be on order from distributers in different parts of the world, and can be delayed in transit to us.

If the item you order is one of these we will reserve you a copy, and send it to you as soon as it is available. We do not charge your credit card until the item is posted to you.

You can check the progress of a reservation, or cancel it at any time by contacting our Mail Order department at john@dresscircle.co.uk.

We do not charge extra postage if we are forced to send different items on different days



How do I buy the recording I`ve chosen?

Once you have found the product you want to buy, just click on the Buy Now button, and it will be automatically added to your personal Shopping Basket.

Then you can either go on browsing and picking products, or you can go straight to the Checkout and pay by entering your personal details, delivery address and credit card number on our secure on-line form.

Remember to double check all your the details and quantities you have ordered before you click the button which finalises the order!

You will then be sent a confirmation message by email, and we will pack and post your goods out to you as soon as possible.

Are my credit card details safe at Dress Circle?

We take your security seriously at Dress Circle. Your credit card details are encrypted before they are sent from your browser to the Dress Circle server, so they can not be stolen en-route.

If you look at the order form you will see a little padlock symbol bottom towards the right-hand-side, which guarantees this encryption is taking place.

Once we have your details they are treated with the same care and discretion we have used for all our customers for over 25 years.

In the five years that we have been trading over the Internet, not one customer has reported security problems resulting from their purchase on-line at Dress Circle. You can order at Dress Circle with confidence.

How can I pay if I don`t have a credit card?

To pay by Cheque (UK Pounds only)
Print out your order screen with all the details of your selection on it, put it in an envelope with a cheque made out to "Dress Circle", in UK Pounds (Sterling), and post it to the following address:

What currency will my card be charged in?

We will charge you card in UK pounds. Your own Card Company will then charge you in your local currency, using their own rate of exchange.

As this will vary very slightly from bank to bank, and from day to day, we can not give you an absolute answer as to what the cost will be after conversion. However, the check-out page has a handy link to a live currency converter, so you can get a guideline of what the local charge is likely to be.



How often do prices on the website change?

The Dress Circle internet catalogue is updated weekly, and prices are subject to change without notice.

However, we will always supply goods at the price displayed on the site at the time the order is placed.



When I try to Check Out, my shopping basket appears to be empty

If you try to check your basket, or to pay for your goods, and get an error message telling you that "your shopping cart is empty," this may be because cookies are not
enabled in your browser.

To fix this in Internet Explorer go to "Tools" on your browser menu. Select "Internet Options," then "Privacy" tab. On this screen, in the settings area, ensure that your browser is set to `medium` or the default level. Then hit the `Apply` button and then the `OK` button. You will need to go back to the homepage to begin your order again.

For Netscape, go to "Edit" on your browser menu. Select "Preferences," then "Advanced". Click on "Advanced," then look for "Cookies." Under "Cookies," click on the button "Accept all cookies." Then hit "OK."

How can I be sure the Videos and DVDs on sale at Dress Circle can be played where I live?

It is important that you check that any Video or DVD you order can be played on your VCR or player, as standards differ across the world, and we stock tapes and discs from more than one region.

Many manufacturers now supply Video and DVD players which play tapes and discs from more than one region - but it is important to check first.
If you buy the wrong recording for the area where you live you may discover that it can not be played on your machine!

All the films in our on-line catalogue will clearly state which regional standard is supplied , as follows.

Region 1 DVD: USA & Canada
Region 2 DVD: UK, Europe and Japan, Middle East, Egypt, South Africa & Greenland


PAL Video - United Kingdom, Europe (not France), Taiwan and others
NTSC Video - United States, Canada, Japan and others

Dress Circle`s refund policy

If you change your mind, or are unhappy with the goods when delivered, you may cancel your order and receive a replacement, or full refund, if you follow these steps:

1.) Contact us to tell us of your intention to cancel within 7 working days after you receive your delivery.

2.) Leave CDs, DVDs, Video and Music Cassettes sealed (unless discovered to be faulty or damaged on delivery).

You will receive a credit, replacement or refund within 30 days after you inform us of your cancellation.

Your rights are protected by the Consumer Protection Notice (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, which can be read here.

The Checkout Page suggests that I create an account - what is this?

Creating an account at Dress Circle means that the next time you visit the on-line shop your address and personal details will have been safely stored for you, and you will save time placing future orders. Your details will be protected by a password which only you will know.

Simply chose Option 2: Create Account, enter your billing and personal details as usual, and then chose a password which you will be able to remember when you next visit the site



I am a Returning Customer - but I can`t get my account to work..?

Even if you have shopped at Dress Circle before, for security reasons you will still have to set up your account from new, so that you are the only person with access to your password.

To set up your account password for the first time follow Option 2: Create Account on the Checkout Page, and enter all the relevant details as prompted. We will update your account, and you will be able to login with password next time you visit.



I`ve forgotten my password!

Email us at tanya@dresscircle.co.uk, to tell us what has happened, and set up a new account with a new password, re-entering your details as prompted.

We will suspend your previous password.



Do you deliver overseas?

We have been shipping recordings all around the world for over 15 years, from Australia to Zaire.

We will deliver by the fastest available post to our customers where ever they live!



How long will my order take to arrive?

Please allow 21 days for your delivery.
If we can get it to you faster, we certainly will!

We aim to process all orders within 2 working days, and to send them by UK first class mail, or international air mail shortly afterwards.

The only exception to this would be if your order included items which were on order from our regular suppliers.

We will normally post out any items which we have in stock straight away, with any others to follow as soon as they are delivered by our suppliers.

We do not charge you any extra postage if we post your order in more than one package.

If you haven`t received your order within 21 days of the ordering date, or if you are concerned in any way about delivery, contact us at info@dresscircle.co.uk and we will track your order for you.



My order hasn`t arrived - what should I do next

If you haven`t received your order within 21 days contact us at info@dresscircle.co.uk and we will track your order for you.



Why has only half my order arrived?

Only part of my order has arrived - when will the rest be sent?

Occasionally some orders include items which are on order from our suppliers, but which are late arriving here at the shop.

In that case we always send out as much of the order as we can at once, with the other items to follow as soon as they arrive. We do not charge you any extra postage for this.

If you still haven`t received your full order within 3 weeks of the ordering date, contact us at info@dresscircle.co.uk.
