Synopsis: The dry Ministry of Information poster message ‘Keep calm and carry on’ is the subject of a special exhibition at the Imperial War Museum; it was printed in anticipation of a successful German invasion in 1940, but was never widely distributed, the style moving away from formal and instructional to a more popular tone, appealing to the nation’s spirit.
