`Dress Circle has a unique approach to supporting British theatrical talent, through it`s nurturing and promotion of an incredible spectrum of actors, composers, lyricists, and librettists. The company provides an otherwise inconceivable platform for less-known musicals, debut albums and other theatrical works, to be heard alongside West End and Broadway stars and hits.
This CD is a tribute to Dress Circle, which many of those contributing agree has been instrumental in their careers at some point, I hope Dress Circle is able to continue fostering British theatrical talent for many years to come and I wish this project the very best of luck`
DAME JUDI DENCH

`Dress Circle is an essential part of our living musical history.  Long may it spin!`
SIR CAMERON MACKINTOSH

`Corporations come and go… Productions come and go… But memories live forever… And an independent keeper of our dreams should be cherished. God bless Dress Circle, and all who sail with her.`
BILL KENWRIGHT

About the title track `Shine On Down`
Composed by Danny Davies with lyrics by Pete Gallagher, "Shine On Down" was originally written for four voices and had been recorded by Daniel Boys, Pete Gallagher, David Berkovitch and Danny Davies, for Danny `s forthcoming album "Hey Producer". As a tribute to all those who make musical theatre the phenomenon that it is, we thought this track was the perfect choice to celebrate Dress Circle and all that it does to support the talent of British actors, singers, composers, lyricists and librettists. An incredible collection of British theatrical talent assembled at The Angel Studios on Tuesday 2nd August 2011 to record `Shine On Down`, in doing so, illustrating their support for Dress Circle in an unprecedented fashion. The soloists included (in order of appearance) Daniel Boys, Stephen Weller, Will Barratt, Mark Goldthorp, Jon Robyns, Kirsty Hoiles, John Barr, Shona White, Shimi Goodman, Julie Atherton, Rosie Ashe and David Berkovitch, accompanied by a host of West End actors including Ivan De Freitas, Lucyelle Cliffe, Alex Scott Fairley, Chantal Amber-Rose, Philip Simon, Constantine Andrews, Rebecca Giacopazzi, Laura Selwood and Rochelle Neil. My thanks to everyone who took part (and apologies to anyone we may have missed in the rush!)

From the producer
Thanks...
There so many people to thank in relation to the making of "Standing Ovation". In particular, all of the artists, songwriters and producers for donating their time and recordings at no cost, Guy at Making Records whose guidance and assistance was second to none, Nathan at Curtain Records, Murray, Richard, and all of the staff at Dress Circle, my fantastic publisher Warren (DeWolfe Music) for allowing us to use the amazing
Angel Studios at a rock bottom price, my co-producer Pete Weitz of Kink Music for bringing `Shine On Down` together against all the odds, Ivan De Freitas, and Colin Ingram Productions Ltd. for allowing us to borrow the wonderful company of Ghost, Tim Courtnell at Sound Performance, Andy Shaw of Shock Productions, Gary Thomas and Tom Halstead at The Angel Studios, Access Artiste Management Ltd., Penny Rock Ltd, Martin Fisher for the use of their artists and productions, Pete Gallagher, the lyricist of `Shine On Down`, at and last (but by no means least) Emma, my amazing wife who has tolerated my non-existence for around 6 weeks!

Great collection of music  James Skypeck  said:
I am a big fan of Dress Circle even though I live in the US. When I heard they might be closing when I visited in May 2011, I was sad to hear that another great store was being forced out of business. Then I heard about this album being used as a fundraiser and had to buy it. What a wonderful View More

This is really, Really good.  Dave Woolrich  said:
I always like to support Dress Circle as is unique, so bought this CD.

It is much better than I anticipated. I kind of thought it would be a load of old covers but it isn't.

The performers all have what I call 'proper' West End theatrical voices. None of your "Britain's Got the Pop Factor... View More
