During the 1950s, `60s and `70s Frank Chacksfield recorded a series of albums for Decca that focused on the eternally beautiful music of American songwriter-composers of the golden `Tin Pan Alley` era. This Vocalion release presents two of these enchanting albums. 1970`s `New York` features colourful arrangements by Eric Rogers, best-known for his `Carry On` film scores, and the album offers gorgeous renditions of timeless melodies such as Take the `A` Train, Autumn in New York, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, Manhattan and Harlem Nocturne among others. Likewise, 1959`s `The Best of Cole Porter` treats us to exquisite interpretations of Porter classics such as Easy to Love, Night and Day, Begin the Beguine, You`d Be So Nice to Come Home to and So in Love.
